Yesterday was Dodger’s 5th birthday. For fun, he ran around the arena, showing off his rollbacks and crash landings into the huge pile of shavings. That’s the happiest he gets, and his version of Disneyland. When he had worn himself out, all steamy and proud, to stand quietly for me to attach his lead, I told him he’s going away to boot camp. No reaction from him, but big decision for me.
Assuming the snow goes away to allow it to happen as planned, on the 29th he’s moving to Cle Elum to be trained by Shannon King, a John Lyons certified trainer. Her family breeds Paints and she specializes in challenging ones, so it only seemed fitting for Dodger because of his past, his emotional immaturity and the fact that he’s sour on everything asked of him at Mt. Si.
I’ll miss him terribly, but I’ll be able to visit on weekends and learn right along with him.
